PARENT RESOURCES AND GUIDES

Find helpful resources from the DOE and other local organizations to help make sense out of high school.

PARENTS' CORNER

NYC SCHOOLS ACCOUNT

Did you know that you can track your child’s education on any computer, phone, or tablet? You can also sign the COVID consent form, right in the NYC Schools Account (NYCSA). You can sign up for an account by entering a few basic details. This will allow you to begin receiving notifications from the DOE. It only takes five minutes, and it is the first step in getting a full account.

If you need help in obtaining your Account Creation Code or need to reset a password, please contact our Parent Coordinator, Jeffrey Bolanos, at (718) 286-3600 for assistance.

JUPITER GRADES

Jupiter Grades is our online grading system. Parents and students are provided with a registration code at the beginning of every year to set up their online account. Jupiter Grades allows students and parents to view classroom assignments, student progress, and provides a platform for direct communication with teachers.

We encourage parents/guardians to set up their parent accounts to better monitor their child's academic progress.

School Meals Benefit

The School Meals Benefit forms must be filled out annually as part of student enrollment.

You only need to submit one form for all children in the family.

Please click on the link https://www.myschoolapps.com/ to complete or pick up a hard copy at the main office

Families, regardless of income, are asked to complete a Family Income Inquiry Form (formerly known as School Meals Form) so that our school can receive additional funding.

You do not have to give any income information if you are certain that you don't qualify, however the NYC DOE asks that families submit the form.

Forms submitted online are processed quickly and you will receive immediate confirmation that your form was submitted.  Please retain the confirmation information.

If families qualify according to the information submitted on the Family Income Inquiry Form (formerly known as School Meals Form), their child could be entitled to:

  • College Board and ACT fee waivers

  • College application fee waivers

  • A waiver of Advanced Placement (AP) exam fees (if they are waived)

  • OTDA Federal Emergency EBT Funds

STAFF EMAIL

E-mail is our preferred method of communication. All QMHS faculty and staff have a DOE e-mail address and a school Gmail address whereby parents can communicate with their child’s teacher. All staff can be reached via email with their first initial and last name @queensmetro.com. Parents/guardians should be registered to the JUPITER platform for easy ongoing access to the staff directory and enhanced communication features.

If parents/guardians need help in registering to JUPITER or to reset a password, please contact our Parent Coordinator, Jeffrey Bolanos, at (718) 286-3600 for assistance.

PARENT UNIVERSITY

The DOE’s Parent University invites NYC families to a series of virtual courses on social-emotional learning (SEL). In these courses, families will learn strategies and have access to tools that promote a successful learning environment for their children. Courses will be conducted in English, Spanish, and Chinese, and taught by DOE partners at Ramapo For Children.

The  DOE’s Parent University seeks to educate and empower all families from early childhood through adulthood, with free courses, resources, events, and activities. Parents can register for free trainings on a wide range of topics, including adult education, student social-emotional learning, and special education.

PARENT COORDINATOR

Our Parent Coordinator, Jeffrey Bolanos, is located in the main office.  He is the liaison between home and school. He sends weekly newsletters via e-mails to update parents on what is going on in and around our school. To be added to his email distribution, email him at jbolanos@queensmetro.com or call 718-286-3600.
