We are Metrobotics!

Metrobotics FTC 14212 is a competitive FIRST Tech Challenge team based at Queens Metropolitan High School in New York City. For the past seven seasons, our team has combined engineering, innovation, and community impact to design high-performing robots while inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders.

We are proud to consistently qualify for the New York State Championships and to have competed at the FIRST World Championship during the 2022–2023 PowerPlay season. Beyond competition, we are deeply committed to outreach, mentorship, and building an inclusive robotics community.

Through design, collaboration, and kindness, we strive to make a lasting impact both on and off the field.

Our Story

Metrobotics was founded on the belief that robotics is more than building a machine - it’s about building people.

For over seven years, our team has grown into a strong, sustainable program that includes three FTC teams, including one all-girls team and two highly diverse teams representing a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Every season, we compete at a high level while fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and inclusivity.

Engineering is at the core of what we do. We utilize Onshape CAD to design precision components for 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting. Our design process emphasizes iterative prototyping, detailed assemblies, and technical documentation - skills that help us perform competitively and clearly communicate our engineering decisions to judges.

Our team is also deeply connected to our community:

  • Hosting annual Summer STEM Programs for middle school students

  • Organizing Robotics Open Houses for families

  • Mentoring multiple FTC teams (23403, 23225, 23409, 27642, 22437, 26195, and more)

  • Volunteering at competitions each season

  • Running fundraisers and service events including Rise Against Hunger

We are especially proud of our partnership with our co-located District 75 school, where we design and fabricate assistive devices such as adapted scissors, spoon holders, fidget tools, and paper holders. These projects teach our members the value of inclusive, human-centered engineering.

What truly sets Metrobotics apart is our commitment to kindness. Whether it’s sharing advice, mentoring rookie teams, or even providing parts to teams in need, we believe that collaboration strengthens the entire FTC community.
